In Our Communities
At The Wet Seal, we love the opportunity to show our support to the people we serve and employ. Here are a few ways we have made a mark most recently:
In August 2013, Wet Seal logo items and 4 $25 gift cards were donated to DIVAS, Inc. for their annual Girls Leadership Summit. DIVAS, Inc is an organization that empowers young women to build their self-esteem. We’re glad to have been a part of their mission through our support!
Wet Seal Gives Back
In July 2013, employees from Wet Seal Headquarters and local field teams came together to support their community by volunteering at the Second Harvest Food Bank. The team spent the morning packing 7,744 boxes which are expected to serve 46,460 meals for families and individuals in the Orange County area. Afterwards, the group enjoyed a picnic barbecue as well as a continued time of team building with fun games at the park. Great job Wet Seal!
In June 2013, field teams went out to show support in their own communities. A local nursing home had been without an events coordinator for 6 weeks when Wet Seal store managers from Region 2 stepped in and led a craft for 20 nursing home residents. They even brought homemade cupcakes for them to enjoy. Not only did the residents love it, but our team had so much fun! Go Region 2!
In June 2013, Wet Seal provided $50 gift cards to each of the Top 20 African American Scholars at Hackensack High School in New Jersey to honor and celebrate their achievements. Our store manager attended the reception and handed out congratulatory letters to give it the personal touch. Congrats grads!
■ At the Working Wardrobes' Dream Girls & Distinguished Gentlemen Prom Event in March 2013, Wet Seal donated one $100 gift card for the volunteer raffle, four $25 gift cards for the student raffle, and over 50 dresses! A group of volunteers from our headquarters & field teams also had the pleasure of helping Brenda, a high school student, pick out an entire outfit for her Prom! The girls that attended the event were given a workshop opportunity to create collages using images and words they liked from magazines. Our team loved seeing what the girls dreamed and hoped their lives would be after high school.
■ Wet Seal decked out three models in two head-to-toe outfits in an April 2013 Charity Fashion Show sponsored by NEWD and Winning the Battles in your Mind, Inc. Our models were courageous young women who were all battling cancer. They looked amazing.
■ In early 2013, Wet Seal donated a $500 gift card to singer/song-writer Maria Diebolt in support of the Teen Nation Tour—young artists touring the country to bring anti-bullying messages directly to the children through music.
And, here is a sampling of other programs or organizations we have supported through our Seal'd With Love program in 2012.
